Review – Hologram Teen/Marsangst EP

I’ve found the remedy for a bad mood in Hologram Teen’s Marsangst EP. It is four slices of upbeat fun that requires at least one part of your body to move in time with the music (it’s more fun if you just give in and let your whole body groove to it). It’s really hard to put a firm handle on categorizing the styles presented, but for me I will settle on “Futuristic Funky”. I couldn’t stop thinking about the television show Yo Gabba Gabba, and I mean that as the highest compliment.

Former Stereolab keyboard player Morgane Lhote has brought her extensive amount of talent to her solo project, Hologram Teen, and it’s one of my favorite things I’ve discovered this year. The EP was released by Happy Robot Records last year and is available from their site. Check it out and give her a spin. The only side effect I can warn you about is fun.
