Ultravox is one of those bands that enjoyed chart success all over the world but failed to really break through in the United States. Lament, released in 1984 was a huge success for Ultravox, peaking at #8 in the UK and #25 in Germany but never made it past #115 in the States. It’s a shame that it wasn’t a bigger hit because there are songs on this album that rank as some of the best of the new wave era (Dancing With Tears In My Eyes has to be one of the all time best of the 1980’s but you never find it getting the attention it deserves). Let’s sit back for a minute, enjoy a few songs, and savor this week’s Throwback Thursay. Lament is well worth a revisit and if it’s your first time hearing it, all the better! Check out the videos below, including their epic appearance at Live Aid. Let me know what you think!
