This September TimeSlave Recordings are releasing the follow up to their massively successful FutureSounds Volume 1 compilation. Ahead of this they’ve graciously released A Taste of the Future, a bit of a tease of what we’re going to get on FutureSounds Volume 2. Like last time this is a charity project, with all proceeds going to CALMzone, a great cause that helps people stop living miserably toward the main goal of preventing suicides. What’s even more exciting is that this new album is going to get a vinyl release (take my money…now!). If this promo EP is any indication of what we’re going to get on the full length release, I’d say TimeSlave Recordings has yet another winner on their hands.
With this sampler TimeSlave Recordings is bringing the heat, showcasing some of the best new, and established talent on the scene. 24:7 kicks things off with the uptempo Into Battle. What better way to hook the listener than a well layered, insanely catchy, beginning track. Kid Neon follows with the John Carpenter’s They Live inspired Bubble Yum. It’s a true banger of a track and keeps the momentum going. Computronic and his soaring Love is Innocent holds down the mid-point of the EP giving you a taste of what’s to come on his upcoming full length (really excited about this one!). We Can’t Turn Back (We Only Have To Go) by U-KOH is super-retro mixed with very modern synth work (those solos, oh my!). It’s yet another highlight on what is sure to be one of the best compilations of the year. If you’ve not already heard new TimeSlave alumni Turbo Knight, his amazing single Metahumans is here in all its synthwavy glory. Since covering him a few weeks back he’s really had a lot going on. Certainly an artist you need on your radar. KiLoSo closes the EP with his darkly ominous Hollow Chains. The bass line of this track is worth the price of admission on its own. He’s also got new music coming out soon on TimeSlave Recordings (and and interview with yours truly, so stay tuned).
If you haven’t figured it out yet, this is a no-brainer. You’ve got a sampler from one of the best synthwave labels on the scene, new artists they’re showcasing, and it’s a HUGE lead up to the full length compilation. If this doesn’t get you hyped up you might want to check your pulse. You can buy A Taste of the Future right now at Bandcamp and keep your eyes peeled for the FutureSounds Volume 2 vinyl pre-orders because those WILL sell out.
