Synthwave Sunday: Turbo Knight / Rise of the Machines

Turbo Knight has been one of my favorite new artists to emerge this year. I still remember getting an e-mail from him with a few SoundCloud links asking if I’d check out his songs. What I heard then blew me away and I am thrilled he’s had so much success between then and now. I ran my original New Artist Alert article back at the start of May. Since that post he has signed with TimeSlave Recordings and has now released his first full length album, Rise of the Machines (including limited edition cassette!). Do you know why Finland’s Turbo Knight has been so successful? Because he’s good…that’s why.

If this is your first time hearing about Turbo Knight, I envy your first time listener’s ears. Never in a million years would you believe this isn’t an artist who hasn’t already established themselves with the best of the best in synthwave. His music is so well produced, so well written, and so polished you’d be hard pressed to believe this was a debut album. This is the exciting part about writing in this scene…you never know when the next hot artist is ready to break through, and getting to see it happen first hand is such a thrill!

Rise of the Machines is eight tracks of blistering hot hooks, layers upon layers of pinpoint precision, and master level synthwave. If you were already following Turbo Knight you’ll find a mixture of you old favorites and new tracks to wow you. What’s more they’ve all been mastered by Kid Neon via Neon Mastering and the results are absolutely phenomenal. This is a must own album. Period.

If you haven’t gathered already, Turbo Knight has knocked it out of the park with this one. If you don’t have this one in your collection already, what are you waiting for? You’re not going to find a better way to provide a mid-summer soundtrack than Rise of the Machines. Beyond that, it is pure synthwave goodness bottled up in an 8 song album. Head over to Bandcamp and show him some love today. You won’t regret it!
