Frisky Monkey is the eighth focus artist in a series of articles that cover each of the Echosynthetic Fest acts. If you’re on the fence about coming I’m hoping that these write-ups will better inform you of who is playing at the show and why you should come out and see them. Like any festival, you’ve got a set of number of artists (in this case it is 10), and you don’t always know much about every band you’re going to see. The Frisky Monkey duo of vocalist Juan Cezar and multi-talented musician Douglas Pettus put the synthpop in this synthwave/synthpop festival. They’re not only one of the best talents in Atlanta, they also prove that synthpop still has a home in electronic music.
Any of the acts that are performing at the 1st Annual Echosynthetic Fest are worthy of your attention, and any one of them are worth the price of entry. That being said, Frisky Monkey are bringing something really special to the table. They are going to turn The Earl into a dancefloor is going to be hard to follow for any of the other acts (I mean it, have you listened to these songs I’ve included?!?). I’d also like to mention that Frisky Monkey have been supportive of Echosynthetic well before we had established ourselves as a voice, and for that I will always be eternally grateful!
Oh wait! I forgot to tell you that not only are Frisky Monkey bringing the synthpop to Echosynthetic Fest, they’re also bringing new music! That’s right! Beyond their new single, You Kiss Me, they’re also debuting their yet to be released collaboration with synthwave artist Electric Runner, Inevitable! That alone has me pumped more than I can explain (because I’ve already heard it and I know the crowd is going to eat it up!). As if all that wasn’t enough, Frisky Monkey are introducing a new song, Now!, that’s not more than a few weeks old!
The $15.00 price of entry gets you access to one of the band that puts Atlanta synthpop on the map, Frisky Monkey! But there’s more! You also get to see Majeure (AE Paterra of Zombi!) from Pittsburgh, Shredder 1984 from France, Vampire Step-Dad from Atlanta, FacexHugger from California, 10th Letter from Atlanta, Pattern Language from Colorado, Gregorio Franco from Atlanta, and Ian Deaton from Atlanta.
Beyond Echosynthetic Fest being a gathering of some of the hottest artists in synthwave and synthpop, it’s also a great opportunity to meet and hang out with other fans and artists from around the United States. We’ve got confirmed guests ranging from Seattle and Los Angeles to Boston and Minnesota, including well known synthwave artists who are coming to hang out and enjoy the Fest! But wait, there’s more! Sharing Needles With Friends Podcast are recording a documentary at the show, performing interviews with artists and fans, and capturing this gathering of synth family, known lovingly on the scene as #synthfam. Come out and join us! Tickets are still available at Freshtix!
