New Music: Rodney Cromwell / Comrades

We’ve got brand new music out of the Happy Robots Records camp from Rodney Cromwell! Comrades comes to us ahead of a new EP titled ‘Rodney’s British Disco’ and most certainly has me primed and ready for that release! In classic Rodney Cromwell form, Comrades manages to evoke the feelings you’d get from the best of Kraftwerk or Georgio Moroder but let’s not sell this synthpop genius short as a nostalgia pillager. Cromwell manages to set himself apart from others who dabble in the synthpop sounds of the 70’s and 80’s by showing his roots but not being chained down by them. His music has an eagerness, an ability to take delight in itself, that reminds you that it’s very here, now, and in the present. Don’t just take my word for it, check out the original version of Comrades AND the Vieon Extended Dance Remix below. More than that, if you’re in the UK I’ve got some excellent news! This March/May will see Rodney Cromwell hitting the road for some live dates (super jealous!). Don’t miss out on these opportunities to catch one of the best pure synthpop purveyors out there.

March 15  Birmingham – The Actress & Bishop
March 16  Leeds – The Fenton
March 17  Salford – The Eagle Inn
May 10  London – The Islington
May 11 Coventry – The Tin Music & Arts
May 12  Southend – The Railway Hotel

Alright, now, let’s check out these new tunes!

And if you want them back to back, I’ve got you hooked up there as well!

Before we go, I’d like to mention that we’re no stranger to Rodney Cromwell. In fact, he was featured last February in a special Artist You Should Know article right here on the site! If you’d like to check out more Rodney Cromwell, you should check it out! In the meantime, enjoy Comrades and keep your eyes peeled here for more info on the full EP release.
